What is a Facial and How does it Work?

When you’re looking for a little extra help with your skincare routine, a facial can really up your game. A facial is a skin treatment that deeply cleanses pores, exfoliates the skin, removes dead skin and impurities and promotes a clear, clean and hydrated complexion. The ultimate goal of a facial is to nourish the face and rejuvenate the skin, making the skin look younger and healthier. After a consultation to assess your skin and your particular concerns, we will create a facial specially for you

Who is suitable for the 5D Cynosure Elite+™ face lifting treatment?

  • Patients aged 20-70 with anti-aging needs who want to improve skin quality, brighten skin tone, tighten and firm, and reduce skin sensitivity
Middle-aged Patients: Patients who are experiencing early facial sagging.
  • Patients who have already experienced facial sagging: Facial contour is not clear, and the facial lines from the earlobe to the jawline are loose and not smooth.
  • Patients with multiple obvious sagging manifestations: For example, the facial skin is no longer full and tight, the highest point of the cheekbones and apple muscles slowly migrate downward, and nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and double chins begin to appear.

What is the science behind this procedure?

Unlike most laser machines that only provide one type of laser, the 5D uses 755nm & 1064nm dual-wavelength long-pulse lasers. The 5D Laser Face Lift also has multiple spot sizes and pulse width selection, which can penetrate deep into the skin’s underlying layers and provide personalized treatment for different skin conditions. By stimulating collagen proliferation, it achieves firming of the skin, improving facial contours, and more.

What are the benefits of the 5D Laser Face Lift?

Deep Skin Lifting and Firming

Adjusting to an ultra-long pulse width, it promotes superficial fat lifting and tightens and lifts the SMAS fascia layer between the superficial and deep fat layers. It can also selectively and effectively remove deep fat, achieving a soft and firm facial contour.

Even Skin Tone, Reduce Wrinkles

The short pulse width of the 1064nm wavelength laser acts on the superficial and epidermal layers of the dermis, targeting facial aging issues such as enlarged pores, sensitive skin, and nasolabial folds and marionette lines, achieving long-lasting effects of brightening skin tone, anti-sensitivity, and smoothing wrinkles.

Skin Brightening, Reduce Pigmentation

Using the 755nm wavelength laser, it can effectively remove superficial melanin, achieving the effect of lightening skin tone, whitening and rejuvenating the skin.

What can I expect during the procedure?

The procedure is performed with cool air and is comfortable and painless.  You may feel a bit of tingling at certain stages of the procedure, but the procedure is overall comfortable and does not have any downtime.  You may be pink for a few hours after the procedure.

When can I see results?

You will be able to feel and see results right away.  Full results after each treatment can be seen between 6-8 weeks stage, the skin is noticeably tighter, brighter, smoother, has more glow and is lifted.

How long do results last?

Results vary from person to person depending on their condition, but generally you can expect results to last between 6 -12months. Once you receive desired results, it is recommended to have 1-2 treatments per year.

How many sessions will I need?

For optimal results and depending on concerns of the client, 2-3 sessions are recommended 6 weeks apart.

What are the two steps in a Clay Peel Facial?

This two-step procedure begins with the AFA Clay Mask. Applied to the face for five minutes, the mask draws out impurities and absorbs excess oil, prepping the skin for the next phase. The mask is then carefully removed with water. Following this, the AFA Peel is applied, which exfoliates dead skin cells and removes any lingering impurities with minimal skin irritation.

What are AFAs?

AFA, which stands for Amino Acid Filaggrin based Antioxidants, are amino acids naturally present in the body. These components enhance the skin’s capacity to retain moisture and contribute to its nourishment and protection. Amino acids are vital for maintaining skin hydration and elasticity, while antioxidants counteract free radicals, preventing premature aging and cellular damage. By combining these elements, AFAs offer a variety of skincare benefits, including hydration, protection, and anti-aging properties.

What conditions will the AFA clay peel treat?

Blemishes & Acne, Redness, Uneven Skin Texture, Uneven Skin Pigmentation, Irritated & Dry Skin, Aging Skin Wrinkles & Fine Lines.

What is the downtime?

There is little to no downtime. You may experience redness for a few hours after the treatment.

When can I start to see results?

You can start to see results after the first treatment. For optimal results for more extreme cases a series of 4-6 treatments every 2-3 weeks is recommended.

Tell me about each step of the Fire & Ice Facial

  1. The Fire Part:This phase involves the application of a resurfacing masque. The masque contains ingredients such as glycolic acid, vitamins, and retinol, which provide a warming effect. This helps in exfoliating the skin, removing dead skin cells, and stimulating the process of cell renewal.
  2. The Ice Part: Following the “fire” masque, a rejuvenating masque is applied, giving a cooling sensation. This part of the treatment includes ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, green tea extracts, and herbal antioxidants. The cooling effect soothes the skin, reduces inflammation, and hydrates deeply.

What are the benefits to the skin?

  1. Exfoliation and Resurfacing: The ‘Fire’ part of the facial, which typically involves glycolic acid and other exfoliating agents, helps in the removal of the outer layers of dead skin cells without experiencing the skin peeling like most peels. This process aids in resurfacing the skin, leading to a smoother, brighter complexion. It’s effective in reducing the appearance of mild scars and other surface-level skin irregularities.
  2. Fine Lines and Wrinkles: The active ingredients in the facial, particularly during the ‘Fire’ phase, stimulate collagen production in the skin. Increased collagen can lead to reduced visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, offering a more youthful appearance.
  3. Skin Texture and Tone: By promoting the shedding of the outer skin layer, the treatment helps in evening out the skin texture and tone. It can be beneficial for individuals with uneven pigmentation, sun damage, and superficial blemishes.
  4. Acne and Oil Control: For those with acne-prone skin, the exfoliating acids can help in unclogging pores, reducing the occurrence of breakouts. It can also help in regulating oil production, which is beneficial for oily skin types.
  5. Hydration and Nourishment: The ‘Ice’ part of the facial often involves hydrating and soothing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and aloe vera. This phase helps in deeply moisturizing the skin, leaving it plump and hydrated.
  6. Soothing Inflammation: The cooling effect of the ‘Ice’ masque is particularly beneficial for soothing inflammation and redness in the skin. This makes it suitable for sensitive skin types and those with conditions like rosacea.
  7. Antioxidant Protection: The inclusion of antioxidants like green tea extracts helps in protecting the skin against environmental damage and oxidative stress, which can contribute to premature aging.
  8. Immediate Glow and Radiance: One of the most notable benefits of the Fire & Ice Facial is the immediate glow and radiance it imparts to the skin. This makes it a popular choice before special events or occasions.

What types of skin is the Fire & Ice Facial safe for?

The Fire & Ice Facial is safe for all skin types

Is there any peeling or downtime associated with this treatment?

Nope. Zero.

How often should I receive the Fire & Ice Facial?

The number of Fire & Ice Facials necessary to achieve desired results varies depending on the person, skin concerns, conditions and goals.

Here is a suggestion:

    1. For General Skin Health and Maintenance: If the goal is general skin rejuvenation, maintaining skin health, or a ‘glow’ for a special occasion, even a single Fire & Ice Facial can provide noticeable results. Many people choose to have this treatment before events for its immediate effect of leaving the skin brighter and more radiant.
    2. For Specific Skin Concerns: For those targeting specific skin issues like acne, hyperpigmentation, or signs of aging (like fine lines and wrinkles), a series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results. This could range from 4 to 6 treatments, typically spaced 3 to 6 weeks apart. The exact number and frequency will depend on individual skin responses and the severity of the skin concerns.
    3. For Long-term Results and Maintenance: After achieving the desired results, some individuals opt for regular treatments (such as once every month or two) as part of their ongoing skincare regimen to maintain the skin’s appearance and health.

What are the contraindications to the Fire & Ice Facial?

This treatment is not recommended for anyone who has had Botox injections within the last 1-13 days, actively using retinols within the last 7 days or taking Accutane or other similar products within the last 6 months.

Ummm..explain the razor used for dermaplaning please!

We get it! Why wouldn’t you be nervous when a person holds a razor blade to your face??!!
Dermaplaning uses a razor to exfoliate dead skin cells, surface debris and peach fuzz that traps dirt and oils.

Does your hair grow back darker?

Simply put NO. This is a myth.
The hair will grow back but will not change color or become more course. Because it was cut straight across with the razor, it will feel coarser when growing back. If you let it grow out more than 2mm, you will notice it softens and is the same as it was before dermaplaning.
There’s no traveling bearded woman happening here ladies!

What is the downtime?

There is no downtime. It is pain free. You may leave a tad pink but that will go away in a few hours.

What are the benefits?

  • Expect to see instant improvement in skin texture and tone.
  • Increased absorption of skin products.
  • Softens fine lines.
  • Improved acne and acne scaring
  • Instant healthy glow
  • Primes skin for chemical peels, microneedling and facials

How long is a treatment and how often should I book a session?

A treatment is about 30-45 minutes. We recommend booking every 4-6 weeks.

What are the benefits of adding a peel or facial to a session?

By removing the initial layer of skin, a peel (mild or strong) or facial can penetrate the skin easier resulting in a more effective treatment. Together they will team up to target all your skin concerns such as aging, sunspots, and skin damage.
